EVAR (endovascular aneurysm repair)
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a minimally invasive procedure to treat an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which is a bulge in the main artery in the abdomen. Using small incisions, a doctor inserts a flexible tube called a stent graft through blood vessels to the aneurysm site. The stent graft reinforces the weakened artery wall, preventing rupture and blood leakage. This approach reduces recovery time and complications compared to open surgery, making it a safer option for many patients. EVAR effectively stabilizes the aneurysm and maintains normal blood flow, reducing the risk of life-threatening rupture.
