Eusthenopteron
Eusthenopteron is an extinct genus of fish that lived around 370 million years ago during the Late Devonian period. It is considered an important species in the study of evolution because it shows features that are common to both fish and the earliest land vertebrates (tetrapods). With a streamlined body, fins, and a skull similar to that of early amphibians, Eusthenopteron provides insight into how aquatic animals might have begun adapting to life on land. Its fossils help scientists understand the transition from fish to four-legged land animals.
