
Eurydice (wife of Orpheus)
Eurydice is a figure from Greek mythology, best known as the wife of the legendary musician Orpheus. Their love story is famous: Eurydice dies shortly after their wedding and is taken to the Underworld. Orpheus, heartbroken, journeys there and charms Hades and Persephone with his music, convincing them to let Eurydice return to the living world. However, he is warned not to look back at her until they reach the surface. Unable resist, he turns to see her just before they emerge, causing her to vanish forever. Eurydice’s story explores themes of love, loss, and the power of art.
