European rabbit

The European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is a small mammal native to southwestern Europe, characterized by its compact body, large ears, and powerful hind legs. Known for their burrowing habits, they live in extensive underground systems called warrens. They are social animals that feed mainly on grasses and herbs. Reproductively prolific, female rabbits can produce multiple offspring in a year, enabling rapid population growth. While they are valued in some cultures for their meat, European rabbits are also considered invasive in regions like Australia, where they have caused significant ecological impacts.
