European Language Framework
The European Language Framework, or CEFR, is a standardized system used to measure and describe language proficiency across Europe. It categorizes language skills into six levels: A1 and A2 (basic users), B1 and B2 (independent users), and C1 and C2 (proficient users). These levels provide a clear way to assess speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities, helping learners, educators, and employers understand a person’s language competence objectively. CEFR promotes consistency in language education and assessment, facilitating mobility and recognition of language skills across different countries and institutions.
