Euromaidan
Euromaidan was a series of protests in Ukraine beginning in late 2013, centered around demands for closer European integration, government transparency, and democratic reforms. Sparked by the Ukrainian government's decision to suspend an association agreement with the European Union, the movement grew into widespread demonstrations against corruption and authoritarian tendencies. These protests ultimately led to significant political change, including the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. Euromaidan reflected Ukrainians’ desire for sovereignty, modernization, and closer ties with Europe, but also resulted in violence and ongoing conflict in the region.
