Eukaryotic DNA
Eukaryotic DNA is the genetic material found in the cells of plants, animals, fungi, and other complex organisms. It is organized into long, linear molecules called chromosomes, which are stored within a defined nucleus. The DNA contains the instructions needed for the cell’s functions and to build the organism. These instructions are made up of sequences of chemical units called bases. Eukaryotic DNA is tightly packed with proteins called histones, forming a structure called chromatin, which helps regulate gene activity and ensures the DNA fits within the cell nucleus.
