EU-Turkey Deal
The EU-Turkey Deal, established in 2016, aims to manage the flow of refugees and migrants arriving in Europe. Turkey agreed to take back migrants reaching Greece, in exchange for financial aid, visa-free travel for Turks, and promises of faster EU accession talks. In return, the EU committed to address Turkey’s asylum and migration concerns and accelerate visa and financial agreements. The deal seeks to reduce migrant crossings and manage migration more effectively, but it has faced criticism regarding human rights and the treatment of refugees.
