ETT (Endotracheal Tube)

An endotracheal tube (ETT) is a flexible plastic device inserted through a person's mouth or nose into the windpipe (trachea) to maintain an open airway. It allows doctors to provide oxygen, anesthesia, or ventilate the lungs during surgery, emergencies, or when breathing is impaired. The tube is connected to a breathing machine (ventilator) that helps patients breathe properly. Proper placement ensures that air flows directly into the lungs, preventing suffocation or inhalation of food or liquids into the lungs, which can cause serious complications.
