Ethiopic script
The Ethiopic script, also known as Ge'ez script, is a writing system used primarily for languages in Ethiopia and Eritrea, like Amharic and Tigrinya. It consists of a series of characters that represent consonant-vowel combinations, with each base consonant having different forms for each vowel sound. The script is written from left to right and is alphasyllabary, combining features of an alphabet and syllabary. Its origins date back over 1,200 years, originating from the ancient Ge'ez language. The script is integral to Ethiopia's cultural and religious history, used in liturgical texts and everyday communication.
