Ethio-Semitic languages
Ethio-Semitic languages are a branch of the Semitic language family, primarily spoken in Ethiopia and parts of Eritrea. They include languages like Amharic, Tigrinya, and Ge'ez, the latter being an ancient liturgical language. These languages share roots with languages like Arabic and Hebrew but have evolved uniquely due to cultural and historical influences in the Horn of Africa. Amharic is the official language of Ethiopia, while Tigrinya serves as a major language in Eritrea. Ethio-Semitic languages are characterized by unique phonetics, grammar, and rich literary traditions.
