Ethernet Passive Optical Network
An Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) is a modern fiber-optic technology that delivers internet and phone services to homes and businesses. It uses a single optical fiber to connect a central point, called the Optical Line Terminal (OLT), to multiple endpoints via passive splitters that distribute the signal without any active electronics. Each endpoint, like a home or office, has an Optical Network Unit (ONU) that receives data. EPON provides high-speed, reliable, and efficient network connections, making it ideal for supporting large data needs such as streaming, gaming, and business communications.
