Eteocles is a figure from Greek mythology, known as the son of King Oedipus of Thebes and his wife Jocasta. He was one of the two brothers involved in a deadly struggle for the throne of Thebes. Eteocles initially agreed to share power with his brother Polynices, but when it came time to rule, he refused to step down after his term ended. This led to a fierce conflict between the brothers, ultimately resulting in both their deaths. Eteocles is often seen as a tragic hero caught in a cycle of family loyalty, pride, and destiny.
