Esophageal Atresia

Esophageal atresia is a congenital condition where the esophagus, the tube connecting the throat to the stomach, is not properly formed. Instead of a continuous passage, the esophagus ends in a pouch and may be disconnected from the stomach. This can cause difficulties with feeding, as liquids or milk may enter the lungs instead of the stomach, leading to choking or infections. Usually diagnosed soon after birth, it requires surgical correction to connect the esophagus properly and ensure normal feeding and digestion. Early treatment is essential for a good outcome.
