ESKD (End-Stage Kidney Disease)
End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) is the advanced stage of chronic kidney disease where the kidneys can no longer effectively filter waste, fluids, and toxins from the blood. This results in a buildup of harmful substances, causing symptoms like fatigue, swelling, and difficulty breathing. At this point, the kidneys have lost nearly all their function, and treatment options typically include dialysis or a kidney transplant to support life. ESKD requires ongoing medical management to maintain health and prevent complications.
