ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act)

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) is a federal law passed in 1965 to provide funding and resources to primary and secondary schools, especially those serving low-income students. Its goal is to ensure all students have access to quality education, improve school performance, and close achievement gaps. The law emphasizes accountability, standardized testing, and additional support for disadvantaged students. Over the years, ESEA has been reauthorized and renamed, most recently as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015, maintaining a focus on equity, educational quality, and student success.
