ESA's SOHO mission

ESA's SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) is a collaborative mission with NASA that studies the Sun. Positioned at the Earth-Sun L1 point, about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, SOHO continuously monitors solar activity, including solar flares and solar wind. Its instruments capture detailed images and data to understand the Sun's behavior, which affects space weather and Earth's climate. Launched in 1995, SOHO helps scientists predict solar storms and improves our knowledge of the Sun's processes, contributing to safeguarding satellites, power grids, and astronauts.
