Erosion Control Techniques

Erosion control techniques are methods used to prevent the loss of soil caused by wind, water, or gravity. These include planting vegetation like grasses and trees to hold soil in place, installing barriers such as silt fences or retaining walls to slow water flow, and using mulch or geotextiles to protect surface layers. Contouring land, creating terraces, and installing check dams reduce water runoff speed and volume. These practices help preserve soil stability, protect waterways from sediment pollution, and maintain land productivity, especially on construction sites and slopes.
