
Ernst Thaelmann (German communist leader)
Ernst Thaelmann was a prominent German communist leader and a dedicated opponent of fascism and capitalism. Born in 1886, he led the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) during the rise of Nazi Germany. Thaelmann strongly advocated for workers’ rights and socialism, opposing the Nazi regime's oppression. In 1933, he was arrested by the Nazis and sentenced to prison for his political activities. Despite brutal treatment, he remained committed to his beliefs until his death in 1944 in their custody. Thaelmann is remembered as a symbol of resistance against fascism and dedicated communist activism in Germany.
