Ernest Starling

Ernest Starling was a British physiologist known for his work on how the heart and blood vessels work. He discovered that the strength of the heart's contractions depends on the amount of blood filling it, a principle called the "Frank-Starling law." This means the more the heart fills with blood during relaxation, the more forcefully it can pump it out. His research helped us understand how the circulatory system maintains blood flow and pressure, laying the foundation for advances in medicine related to heart function and heart failure.
