Erik Bloodaxe
Erik Bloodaxe was a Viking leader and king during the early Middle Ages, known for ruling parts of Scandinavia and northern England. His nickname "Bloodaxe" reflects his reputation for fierce warfare and violence. He was a son of King Harald Fairhair of Norway and became king of Norway and later Northumbria (in northern England). His reign was marked by constant conflict, both within his family and with external rivals. Erik's rule ended when he was defeated and killed, but his legacy remains as a prominent figure in Viking history, symbolizing the violent and tumultuous nature of Viking leadership and expansion.
