Epothilone
Epothilone is a naturally occurring compound derived from certain bacteria that has anti-cancer properties. It works by stabilizing microtubules, which are structural components inside cells essential for cell division. By preventing microtubules from breaking down, epothilone halts cancer cell division, leading to cell death. This mechanism makes it useful as a chemotherapy agent for treating cancers such as breast and ovarian cancer. Epothilones are similar to another drug called taxol but can be effective in cases where cancer has developed resistance to such treatments.
