Epithelial ovarian cancer
Epithelial ovarian cancer originates from the outer surface layer of the ovary, called the epithelium. It is the most common type of ovarian cancer and often develops silently, making early detection challenging. This cancer can spread within the pelvis and abdomen and, if advanced, beyond. Symptoms may include bloating, pelvic pain, and changes in bowel or bladder habits, but they are often subtle. Treatment typically involves surgery to remove the tumor and may include chemotherapy. Early diagnosis improves outcomes, but due to its silent nature, regular medical check-ups are important for at-risk individuals.
