Epistemic Reliability

Epistemic reliability refers to the trustworthiness of the sources or methods we use to gain knowledge. It assesses how likely it is that a belief or piece of information is true, based on the credibility and accuracy of the process used to obtain it. For example, scientific experiments and expert testimony are often considered reliable because they follow rigorous procedures. When something is epistemically reliable, we can have reasonable confidence that our belief is true. Essentially, it’s about evaluating whether our ways of knowing are dependable enough to justify our believing something as fact.
