Epistaxis
Epistaxis, commonly known as a nosebleed, occurs when the blood vessels in the nasal cavity break and bleed. This can happen for various reasons, including dry air, allergies, nasal injuries, or underlying health conditions. Nosebleeds are generally not serious and can often be managed at home by pinching the nostrils and leaning forward to prevent swallowing blood. However, if nosebleeds are frequent or severe, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for evaluation, as they may indicate an underlying issue that requires treatment.
