Epipolar Geometry
Epipolar geometry is a concept in stereo vision that describes the relationship between two images of the same scene taken from different viewpoints. It helps determine how corresponding points in one image relate to points in the other. When a point in one image is located, its matching point in the second image must lie along a specific line called the epipolar line. This geometric relationship simplifies the process of matching points between images, enabling accurate 3D reconstruction and depth perception by relating the perspectives of two cameras or images.
