Epidural Block

An epidural block is a medical procedure that involves injecting anesthetic medication into the epidural space, which surrounds the spinal cord in the lower back. This numbs the nerves that carry pain signals from the lower body, providing pain relief during labor, surgeries, or certain medical procedures. The procedure is generally safe and allows the person to remain awake while feeling no or minimal pain in the targeted area. It is administered by a trained healthcare provider, who carefully inserts a small needle and catheter to deliver the medication gradually as needed.
