Epidermolysis Bullosa

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of rare genetic skin disorders that cause the skin to be very fragile and blister easily, often from minor injuries or friction. This results from mutations affecting proteins that anchor skin layers together, leading to painful blisters and peeling. The severity varies; some people experience mild discomfort, while others have widespread, severe skin damage. There’s no cure, but treatment focuses on wound care, preventing infections, and managing symptoms to improve quality of life. EB can also affect other tissues, including the mouth, esophagus, and nails.
