Epic of Atrahasis

The Epic of Atrahasis is an ancient Mesopotamian myth that explains the origins of humans and the story of a great flood. It describes how the gods created humans to serve them, but overpopulation and noise led to divine frustration. In response, the gods sent plagues and a flood to reduce the human population. Atrahasis, a wise man, receives a warning from the gods and builds an ark to survive the deluge, similar to the biblical story of Noah. The myth explores themes of divine justice, human suffering, and renewal.
