EPA Superfund Program

The EPA Superfund Program is a government effort to clean up contaminated sites resulting from hazardous waste dumps, industrial accidents, or illegal dumping. When a site is identified as dangerous to health or the environment, the program provides funding and resources to assess, contain, and remove pollutants. The goal is to protect communities and restore contaminated land for safe use. Superfund identifies responsible parties whenever possible to share cleanup costs, but also uses federal funds when necessary, ensuring pollution is managed effectively and public health is safeguarded.
