Eosinophilic granuloma
Eosinophilic granuloma is a condition characterized by the buildup of a specific type of immune cells called eosinophils, along with other cells, forming small lesions or lumps in the bones. It is considered a mild form of a disease called Langerhans cell histiocytosis. Often affecting children and young adults, it can cause pain, swelling, or fractures if in bones. The exact cause is unknown, but it may involve an abnormal immune response. Treatment typically involves surgery, in some cases additional therapies like steroids or radiation, and most patients recover well.
