Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic digestive condition where the esophagus—the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach—becomes inflamed due to an allergic response. This inflammation is caused by an accumulation of a type of white blood cell called eosinophils, often triggered by certain foods or allergens. Symptoms include difficulty swallowing, food getting stuck, chest pain, or reflux that doesn’t improve with usual treatments. EoE is diagnosed through endoscopy and biopsy, and managed with dietary changes, medications, and sometimes specific procedures to reduce inflammation and improve swallowing function.
