Eosin
Eosin is a dye used in laboratories to stain biological tissues, especially to highlight certain cell components like proteins and cellular structures. When applied to tissue samples, eosin binds to these components, giving them a pink or orange color under a microscope. This staining helps scientists and doctors see and differentiate different parts of cells and tissues more clearly, aiding in microscopic analysis and diagnosis of diseases. It is commonly used alongside other stains, such as hematoxylin, in a technique called hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, which provides detailed insights into tissue morphology.
