Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay

An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a laboratory test used to detect specific substances, such as proteins or antibodies, in a sample. It works by attaching the target molecules to a surface, then adding special antibodies linked to an enzyme. When a substrate is added, the enzyme reacts to produce a color change if the target is present. The intensity of the color indicates the amount of the substance in the sample. ELISA is commonly used for diagnosing diseases, checking for infections, and measuring levels of certain proteins in research or clinical settings.
