Enzootic diseases

Enzootic diseases are infections that regularly occur within a specific animal population or region, existing at a stable or predictable level over time. Unlike outbreaks that suddenly spread widely, enzootic diseases are maintained within the community without causing widespread illness. Examples include certain types of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle or avian influenza in bird populations. They are important for veterinarians and farmers to monitor, as changes in their pattern can signal new risks or emerging outbreaks, helping prevent larger epidemics in animal populations and protecting both animal and public health.
