Entropy and the Arrow of Time

Entropy is a measure of disorder or randomness in a system. Over time, systems naturally tend toward higher entropy, meaning they become more disordered. The Arrow of Time refers to this unidirectional flow of time—from past to future—highlighting that processes like aging or mixing liquids happen in one direction. Essentially, the universe's overall increase in entropy gives time its directionality, making the past different from the future, and explaining why certain processes are irreversible.
