Entities

Entities are distinct, recognizable things or concepts within data—such as a person, place, organization, or event. In information systems, identifying entities helps organize and categorize data efficiently. Think of entities as the main "objects" or "categories" around which information is grouped, allowing systems to understand and relate different pieces of data. For example, in a customer database, "Customer" is an entity, with details like name, contact info, and purchase history as its attributes. Recognizing entities allows computers and humans to make sense of complex information structures and establish meaningful relationships between different data points.
