Enterovirus D68

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is a virus that mainly causes respiratory illnesses, similar to the common cold or asthma flare-ups. It spreads through contact with respiratory secretions, like coughs, sneezes, or contaminated surfaces. Most people recover without issues, but it can cause more severe breathing problems, especially in children, those with asthma, or weakened immune systems. EV-D68 outbreaks have been linked to spikes in respiratory illnesses and sometimes severe respiratory distress. Good hygiene, such as handwashing and avoiding close contact with sick individuals, helps prevent its spread.
