Enteric protozoa

Enteric protozoa are tiny, single-celled organisms that infect the digestive system, often causing illnesses such as diarrhea and stomach discomfort. They are transmitted through contaminated food or water, or poor hygiene. Common examples include Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and Entamoeba histolytica. These parasites can invade the intestinal lining, leading to symptoms like diarrhea, cramps, and dehydration. Typically, healthy individuals recover with proper hydration and treatment, but vulnerable groups may experience more severe illness. Preventative measures include good sanitation, proper handwashing, and safe drinking water practices.
