Enhancer-promoter interactions

Enhancer-promoter interactions are ways different parts of DNA communicate to regulate gene activity. Enhancers are DNA regions that, when active, boost a gene’s expression, while promoters are the start sites where gene transcription begins. These regions can be physically brought close together through DNA looping, allowing the enhancer to influence the promoter directly. This interaction ensures that genes are turned on or off at the right times and in the right cells, controlling biological processes such as development, cell function, and response to environmental signals.
