English Peasants' Revolt

The English Peasants' Revolt of 1381 was a widespread uprising driven by economic hardship, high taxes, and social inequality following the Black Death. Peasants and commoners demanded relief from oppressive taxes, particularly the poll tax, and sought greater rights and recognition. The revolt involved protests, attacks on tax collectors, and a march towards London. Although the rebellion was eventually suppressed, it marked a significant challenge to the feudal system and highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with medieval social and economic structures. It contributed to gradual social and political changes in England.
