English Parliamentary army
The English Parliamentary Army was a military force raised during the English Civil War (1642–1651) to support the Parliament against King Charles I. Its goal was to challenge royal authority and promote political reform. Comprising mainly trained soldiers and volunteers, the army played a crucial role in defeating the monarch's forces, leading to the eventual abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic under Oliver Cromwell. It marked a significant shift in English history, highlighting the power of parliamentary authority over royal rule.
