Engine Control Unit (ECU)

An Engine Control Unit (ECU) is a specialized computer in a vehicle that monitors and manages engine functions to ensure optimal performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions. It collects data from various sensors—like temperature, airflow, and oxygen levels—and uses this information to adjust engine parameters such as fuel injection, ignition timing, and idle speed. Essentially, the ECU acts as the vehicle’s brain, coordinating engine operations in real-time to keep the engine running smoothly, efficiently, and within regulatory standards. It also stores diagnostic information to help identify and troubleshoot issues.
