
Engelbert von Admont
Engelbert von Admont (1796–1862) was an Austrian Benedictine monk, scholar, and librarian known for transforming the Admont Abbey Library into one of the world's most beautiful and extensive monastic libraries. He played a key role in restoring and expanding the monastery after its damage during the Napoleonic Wars. Under his leadership, the library became a center for knowledge, art, and culture, featuring impressive architecture and intricate decorations. His efforts significantly contributed to the preservation of historical manuscripts and fostered the arts within the monastic community.
