Enfuvirtide

Enfuvirtide is a medication used to treat HIV infection by preventing the virus from entering and infecting healthy cells. It works by specifically blocking a step in the virus’s entry process into the immune cells, called fusion. This makes it harder for HIV to spread within the body. Enfuvirtide is often used when other HIV medications aren’t enough on their own. It is administered via injection, typically into the fatty tissue under the skin. By stopping the virus from infecting new cells, enfuvirtide helps to lower the amount of HIV in the blood and maintain immune function.
