energy systems in sports
Energy systems in sports are the processes your body uses to generate power during physical activity. There are three main systems: the phosphagen system provides immediate energy for short, intense efforts like sprinting; the anaerobic system produces energy without oxygen for activities lasting up to a couple of minutes, such as middle-distance running; and the aerobic system uses oxygen to sustain longer, moderate efforts like marathon running. These systems work together, depending on the activity’s intensity and duration, to supply the energy your muscles need to perform.
