Energy Loss

Energy loss refers to the reduction of useful energy as it moves through a system. When energy is transferred—such as electricity flowing through wires or machines converting energy into motion—some of it inevitably escapes as waste, often as heat, light, or sound. This loss occurs because of inefficiencies in the process or materials involved, meaning not all input energy is retained for its intended purpose. In practical terms, energy loss means more input energy is needed to achieve the desired work, which can increase costs and reduce overall efficiency.
