Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) provides compensation and medical benefits to workers who were employed at nuclear weapons facilities or uranium mines and later developed illnesses such as cancer or chronic beryllium disease as a result of their work. Enacted in 2000, it acknowledges the health risks faced by these workers due to exposure to hazardous substances and offers a streamlined process for them or their survivors to seek compensation and medical care. The program aims to recognize their service and help address health issues caused by occupational exposures during the development of nuclear weapons.
