Endurantism vs. Perdurantism

Endurantism and Perdurantism are two philosophical views about how objects persist over time. Endurantism holds that objects are entirely present at each moment of their existence—they endure through time without losing any part of themselves. Perdurantism, on the other hand, argues that objects are extended in time as well as space, composed of different temporal parts or “time-slices.” According to perdurantism, objects are like a series of connected snapshots, with each part existing at a specific time. In short, endurantism sees objects as wholly present throughout their existence, while perdurantism sees them as a collection of temporal segments.
