Endovascular Aortic Repair

Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat aneurysms, which are dangerous bulges in the aorta—the main blood vessel running from the heart through the abdomen. During EVAR, a doctor inserts a thin tube called a catheter through a small incision in the groin and guides it to the aneurysm. A fabric-covered metal stent, called a graft, is then placed inside the aorta to reinforce the vessel wall and prevent rupture. This approach reduces recovery time compared to open surgery and effectively stabilizes the weakened area of the aorta.
